I have always enjoyed the competitive environment athletics offers in testing personal boundaries. Growing up found me going from football to basketball to baseball all year long. I was specifically drawn to the physical nature involved in playing football, leading me to playing at Utah State (Go Aggies!) during my college years. Equally intriguing to me was the mental approach different individuals used in approaching a competitive event. Interested in Sport Psychology I obtained degrees in both Psychology and Physical Education along with a M.Ed in Health and Physical Education while at Utah State. I put these to use coaching and teaching at the high school level and was fortunate to be a part of championship teams at that level. While coaching and teaching I maintained my own workouts which simply mirrored what my collegiate experience had been. I constantly looked for a training method and approach to improve both myself and the teams I worked with.
Like many others I was introduced to CrossFit through a friend and instantly knew I had found what I had been looking for. I fell in love with the never ending variety and personal challenge offered to anyone willing to improve themselves physically and mentally. I was also introduced to the instant common ground CrossFit brings to a wide variety of people with different backgrounds. This brings with it the wonderful gift of community and friends all of whom are simply trying to do better than they did last time. Like any good thing you want to share it with your loved ones, in my life this includes a wonderful wife and seven children. All of them have been introduced to the possibilities their bodies have and how CrossFit can help them obtain it. A great day includes a good workout with friends and the involvement of the community that comes with it, including helping someone fix their issue or set a PR!
