How long have you been training here at Ute CrossFit Sugarhouse and what brought you here?
I joined Ute CrossFit in February of this year (2012). My good buddy Zac mentioned CrossFit and said that he thinks I would be crazy enough to go. It took me about a year to realize that I needed to take my fitness to the next level.
Since starting a Ute CrossFit, what has your lifestyle been life? Have you changed anything?
My lifestyle has changed dramatically! I would say the biggest thing that has changed is my overall confidence both inside and outside the gym. I was never the athletically inclined kid growing up so I am taking advantage of this opportunity to play catch up! I have realized that there isn’t anything that I can’t accomplish!!
What is your favorite movement and or skill you have learned at Ute CrossFit?
My favorite movements is by far power cleans!
What has been the most challenging part of your journey?
The most challenging part by far is being satisfied with where I am currently athletically. Ute CrossFit has no shortage of outstanding athletes that can do amazing things. I often have to take a step back and realize what I have accomplished. Tommy said it best when he told me that the journey is not a sprint but a marathon.
What has been the most fun?
The most fun moments are when you come to the gym and are able to crush your prior record in a WOD!
How many days a week do you typically train at the gym?
I always try to aim for at least 4 days a week.
What is your approach toward nutrition?
For the most part I have adopted the Paleo lifestyle. I realize that I must get my nutrition dialed in now for me to live a long life. I’m human so of course I have the occasional cheat meal.
Favorite activity outside Ute CrossFit?
My absolute favorite thing to do outside the gym is to go to rock concerts! I have been to hundred by now and can’t think of anything better than rocking out to live music.
Proudest accomplishment at Ute CrossFit?
My proudest accomplishment thus far are my strength gains. When I first started I really had to scale back on all weights. I have been going Rx on pretty much every WOD for a few months now.
Proudest accomplishment outside the gym?
I would have to say my recent Marathon I completed this past May in Provo. It was tough but blast at the same time!
What is your biggest accomplishment fitness wise in or out of the gym?
My biggest accomplishment would have to be overall lifestyle transformation. About 3 years ago I used to be really overweight and was facing some really tough times in my life. Back then I used to drink a lot and ate nothing but fast food. I realized I needed a change and started going to the gym and taught myself how to run and overall workout. When I look back I can’t even recognize who that guy was. Thanks to CrossFit I know for a fact that I will never look back!
